Australian Boulder Pipe Opal Ring
This ring features a spectacular boulder opal from Australia and has a unique milky color! Boulder opals, which are mined only in central Queensland Australia, are found in ironstone. When they are cut, a layer of the original ironstone is retained which give the gem its unique colors.
This particular opal has a milky iridescent color which contrasts beautifully with the little bits of matrix rock. It glows from every angle and has a wonderful organic shape to it. This raw opal is showcased by the organic freeform design of its setting. These settings are all unique and one of a kind to fit each individual opal.
This ring was sculpted from scratch out of wax and then created using the lost wax casting technique. It has been cast in recycled .925 sterling silver and is a size US 7.5. This setting lays flat against the finger, making it very comfortable and perfect for every day wear. I've designed this piece to be freeform and love the organic shape. This ring is one of a kind!
